Goats
Goats have been raised on farms for many years as a source of milk and meat for the family. Herds have grown and goats are now producing milk for commercial use, meat goats are being raised for ethnic markets, and fibre goats are being raised for their unique mohair and cashmere fibre.
2010 marks the 15th edition of the Goat Gala, one of the largest goat shows in the country, and continues to set a benchmark in the Canadian goat industry. The Goat Gala showcases the top quality and diversity of Canada’s goats and their value as an alternative livestock.
Angora, Boer and commercial meat goats are showcased in a variety of classes and competitions. Over the last decade the Goat Gala has averaged over 200 entries per year.
