“Tough Enough To Talk About It” is directed to men and women working in the Agricultural Industry. The presentation looks at ways to recognize the signs of stress, burnout and depression. People will also learn to recognize the signs for suicide and what to say and do with a person at risk. We explore how stress and mental health problems can impact safety on the farm. This presentation delivers information and ideas for healthy ways of coping with problems and provides resources for getting help when needed.
Speaker Bio: Neil’s background is in Social Work and he is currently employed with Alberta Health Services as a Health Promotion Facilitator in the area of Addiction and Mental Health. Neil is the coordinator of the “Tough Enough To Talk About It” Program for industry, trades and agriculture in East Central Alberta. He is also an active member of the Lakeland Regional Safety Committee. Neil is passionate about promoting mental health on the farm and supporting workplace wellness.
