Career highlights include interviews with some of the biggest entertainers in the world. Graham’s ability to engage and connect with diverse personalities has garnered him numerous accolades and prestigious awards. He was honoured as Edmonton’s Man of the Year for work on TV and in the community. Beyond his broadcasting achievements, Graham is a stand-up comedian, and he produces national touring live storytelling concerts illuminating iconic performers such as Johnny Cash.

Trent and Dena Lewis own and operate One Mile Ranch, a direct producer-to-consumer operation. They are a first-generation ranch built from the ground up, with a marketing brand that was also built from scratch into a successful business. They are passionate about the process of sharing their story, helping to bridge the gap between the farm and the food they produce, and the customers they serve. Through social media they have shared the good, the bad and everything in between. They will share their experience with building a brand, telling "their story" and helping you identify what your story is, a story that only you can tell!

Annessa Good-Hassard- Family Farm Transition Workshop

Annessa was born and raised on her family’s mixed farm and has strong roots connected to agriculture. Annessa and her husband have recently moved back to her family’s farm and are the successors for their operation. Annessa has been honoured to sit at the table with over 500 families and learn about their family and operations. With this extensive experience, Annessa understands the inter-dependence and complexities of inter-generational family farm issues and concerns. She created Peak Heritage Consulting Ltd. to work with families as a completely independent advisor.

Gisela Griesser- Putting Your Farm Dog to Work Presentation

When Gisela saw a border collie work for the first time, gathering sheep on a hill, she knew what her life’s work would be - training dogs for sheep herding! It's now been over 35 years since she got her first border collie. Gisela spent many years living on a farm where dogs were invaluable partners in handling sheep every day. She has competed and won many sheep dog trials over the years. Gisela is a certified professional dog trainer, teaching life skills classes to dog owners, and working extensively with reactive dogs and other behavior cases.

Karlene Yakemchuk- Finding Money from On-Farm Grants Workshop

Karlene is from Hairy Hill AB, where her husband James and her two daughters farm alongside the James family. Together they raise purebred Salers cattle and grow cereals, canola and pulses. Karlene founded Scattered Spruce Ag Services to help farmers with successful grant applications, range and pasture management, as well as crop production optimization. Karlene holds her Professional Agrologist designation with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists, as well as her Certified Crop Advisor certification. Karlene is a proud graduate of the Canadian Cattle Young Leaders program.

Graeme Finn- Profitable, Practical Regenerative Techniques Presentation

Graeme and his wife Heather own Southern Cross Livestock, a successful operation with a focus on year-round grazing of both high legume pastures and annual crop grazing. They were one of the pilot ranchers for the McDonald/ Cargill sustainability program, which turned into the Canadian Round table for Sustainable Beef that they are still heavily involved with to this day. Graeme sits on many livestock industry boards and has gained an international reputation for his knowledge about running sustainable livestock operations profitably.

Debra Murphy – Leading Without Titles Presentation

Debra Murphy is a passionate cattle producer committed to promoting good agricultural practices and fostering cross-industry collaboration. Debra oversees the creation of engaging and relevant content for ABP Daily, works closely with media representatives, manages celebratory initiatives like the Environmental Stewardship Award, and handles the youth file for Alberta Beef Producers (ABP). Debra grew up on a mixed operation and furthered her knowledge with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Alberta.

Mark Lyseng – Leading Without Titles Presentation

Mark Lyseng works alongside his family raising purebred Simmental cattle. He developed expertise in political and regulatory aspects of the Ag sector while working for the Government of Alberta. He has a Master’s Degree from the University of Alberta in range and wildlife management, and he is a graduate of the CCA mentorship program, the Canadian Cattle Young Leaders. Currently serving as the Lead of Government Relations and Policy for Alberta Beef Producers, Mark advocates for the beef industry and works strategically to develop policies that benefit the sector.

Karen Abbott - Viisona Bovine Ultrasound Demonstration

Karen Abbott, President, is an entrepreneurial pioneer in ultrasound training courses for livestock producers. Recognizing the need for proper education in ultrasound use, Karen developed a comprehensive training curriculum to ensure producers could effectively integrate ultrasound into their reproductive programs and herd health. For over a decade, her company has been dedicated to providing both the equipment and the training needed to support producers' success with ultrasound technology.

Dr. Rachel Budd- - Viisona Bovine Ultrasound Demonstion

Dr. Rachel Budd is passionate about client education and empowering individuals with the resources to enhance the efficiency of their operations. As a knowledgeable bovine reproduction specialist and sonographer, she enjoys leading ultrasound training sessions, with a focus on practical application and skill development. Since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2021, Dr. Budd has dedicated her career exclusively to working with cattle. Her areas of expertise include bovine reproduction, calf health, and assisting clients with employee training and protocol development.

Turning Genomic Data into Profit: Supporting Decision Making On-Farm

Dr. John Basarab will introduce genomic tools that will improve production and feed efficiency, carcass quality, health resilience and profitability for beef producers. He will discuss genomic breed composition, hybrid vigour score, and DNA-based indexes such as the Replacement Heifer Profit Index and Feeder Profit Index, and how these tools can be used to improve the profitability and sustainability of beef production. SPEAKER: Dr. John Basarab is the RDAR Research Professor of Beef Cattle Genetics at the University of Alberta and has over 30 years experience in beef cattle production and management. His current areas of work include improving feed efficiency, delivering beef genomic and production technologies and greenhouse gas mitigation in beef cattle.

The stress can be overwhelming at times when dealing with weather, finances, equipment breakdowns or family dynamics. There are ways to increase mental resilience and effective mental health supports for farmers. SPEAKER: Linda Hunt is the Director of AgKnow, Alberta farm mental health network, and she farms in Central Alberta.
