- Meat and Livestock Australia released its State of the Industry Report 2021. “It is crucial that the red meat and livestock industry continues to unite right across the supply chain to further improve the productivity and profitability of the entire sector,” said managing director Jason Strong.
- Former Alberta Beef Producers chair Kelly Smith-Fraser has been appointed chair of the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation. She told a recent webinar at the University of Calgary that the environmental benefits of beef production, such as grassland preservation, biodiversity, upcycling, and carbon sequestration, need to be taken into account.
- Sandy Russell is the new CEO of the Canadian Beef Breeds Council, reports Alberta Beef Producers.
- Amie Peck of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association spoke to CJME about Guardians of the Grasslands, a film about how beef cattle help preserve grassland ecosystems.
- Farm Credit Canada spoke to three ranchers about adopting sustainable production practices.
